Description: The Octava PRO DSX AV over IP transmitters and receivers should be configured individually to unique IP address with 172.31.xx.xx and Subnet of 255.255.0.0 . The Cisco network switch provided along with your PRO DSX system has been configured in order to work with the AV over IP system and your existing network.
A static route must be established for the Octava Control software to communicate with the PRO DSX AV over IP in the 172.31.xx address space as well as allowing your control device ( iPad, PC) to access other network devices and internet. There are 2 methods to establish static routes:
Method 1: Setting static route in the router settings.
Method 2: Setting static route in the the control device interface ( iPad, PC and etc)
System Diagram

Method 1: Static Route Setting on a ROUTER
Step 1: Log in to your LAN Router and determine the IP address of the following:
- Cisco Switch for the PRO DSX AV System
- Octava Controller

Step 2 : Add static route to the PRO DSX AV devices
- Log into to your LAN Router
- Goto “Router”
- Add a Static Route for to all devices with 172.31.xx and assign the gateway. The gateway will be the Cisco switch from step 2
Subnet Mask : 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway: this will be the IP address of the Cisco switch from Step 1.

Step 3: DHCP Reserve the IP address for the Cisco Switch and the Octava Controller – this will reserve the IP address so the IP address will not be changed by the LAN Router

Step 4. Accessing the Octava Controller
- Connect your iPad or PC to the same LAN Router WIFI network
- Open browser and entering the IP address of the Octava Controller followed by :3000

Method 2: Setting Static Route on iPad
Step 1: Log in to your LAN Router and determine the IP address of the following:
- Cisco Switch for the PRO DSX AV System
- Octava Controller

Step 2 Open the Network setting on the ipad and find the IP address assigned to the iPad or login to your router and find the ipad address in ‘connected devices’

Step 3. Change the IP settings to:
Configure IP = MANUAL ( or Static)
IP Address = IP address of the iPad as assigned by the router
Subnet Mask = same as assigned by router
Router = IP address of the Cisco Switch configured for the AV Over IP

Step 4: Set DNS to 8.8.8.8

Step 5: DHCP Reserve the IP address for the Cisco Switch and the Octava Controller – this will reserve the IP address so the IP address will not be changed by the LAN Router

Step 6. Accessing the Octava Controller
- Connect your iPad to the same LAN Router WIFI network
- Open browser and entering the IP address of the Octava Controller followed by :3000
